Building Your Excel Template so You Can Create New Listings

To create new listings on Jet, you will populate the Excel template attached to the bottom of this article. All categories are supported. Depending on Jet's requirements for your category, you may need to add a few columns to the template before uploading.

Once you've successfully created listings with your template, you can save it for future use.

Required Fields

NOTE: In Solid Commerce, all jet attr: columns are Product Level fields (found on the Products + Inventory tab of the attached template). All jet: columns are Marketplace Level fields (found on the Jet - Creating Listings tab).

If the item you want to list already exists in Solid Commerce, you don't need to repopulate any of the fields on the Products + Inventory tab that you have already populated in the past (upc, manufacturer, qty, image file, etc.).

The weight of your product. Enter it in ounces with no decimals.

This field allows you to create a description that is unique to Maximum description length is 2,000 characters. HTML is not allowed.

If you don't provide a jet description, we will submit the description saved in the general description field. The general description field can also be used on other marketplaces.

The URL of your product's main image.

According to Jet, images must be at least 40,000 square pixels (ie 200 x 200 pixels). The smallest side must be at least 100 pixels. The recommended length is 1500 px x 1500 px or larger. PNG and GIF are unsupported formats.

Jet allows up to 5 total bullet points, with each bullet point containing up to 500 characters. Enter each bullet point in its own column.

This field allows you to provide a listing title that is unique to Jet. The maximum title length is 500 characters.

If you don't provide a jet:title, we will submit your product name as the title.

jet:browse node id

The category number, found inside the Jet Taxonomy spreadsheet. For instructions on finding the browse node ID, see the Finding the Jet Browse Node ID for Your Template section of this article.

jet:price exp

This price is submitted to Jet as the base "item price" for your listing.

Jet adds your shipping fees separately. They also offer discounts to buyers using the Jet Rules Engine.

The pricing rules you set up inside your Jet account control the final "settlement price" you are paid.

You have two options for populating this field:

  1. Enter a number with up to two decimal points and no currency symbol.
  2. Enter formulas using the word cost, like cost*1.5 or cost+10. More complex formulas also work, like cost*1.2+5 or ((cost*1.2)+5).

    • 102 - The Jet member savings are never advertised. Jet members can only view the savings if they are logged in and request to reveal the savings. This option can be used to comply with a manufacturer's MAP policy. Jet uses the value you entered in the jet:map price field as the initial price displayed to buyers.
    • 103 - The Jet member savings is never applied to the product. You are not awarded the order if the Jet price is below the item price you set. This may restrict your ability to win orders. This option can be used to comply with a manufacturer's Unilateral Minimum Retail Price Policy.

If you have multiple Warehouses connected to your Jet account, we apply the same quantity expression to all of the Warehouses you select as PO Sources for your listing.

EXAMPLE: You have two Warehouses. Warehouse A has a quantity of 4. Warehouse B has a quantity of 2. You enter a Listing Quantity Expression of lq-1. For Warehouse A, we will submit a quantity of 3. For Warehouse B, we will submit a quantity of 1.

If you enter No, your product will not list until you turn the automation on.

This setting overrides the category level fee adjustment you set for your Jet account. The return fee adjustment is the amount of additional commission you are willing to pay if the buyer waives their ability to return the product.

Enter a percentage expressed as a decimal.

EXAMPLE: Your normal commission base rate is 15%. You are willing to pay an additional 2% in commission if the buyer waives their right to return the product. Enter 0.02 into this field. That would bring the total commission you pay Jet to 17%.

Finding the Jet Browse Node ID for Your Template

You aren't required to provide the Jet Browse Node ID when adding yourself to listings that already exist in Jet's catalog. However, Jet strongly encourages you to provide a category number so that they can try to improve the quality of their catalog.

If you want to provide the Browse Node ID, the only way to find it is to use Jet's Taxonomy file.

1) Click on this link to download Jet's Taxonomy file from their Dropbox account,

2) Click on the Download button.

  • You don't need a Dropbox account to view or download Jet's Taxonomy file. If Dropbox prompts you to create an account, you can use the No thanks, continue to view -> option at the bottom of the overlay window.

3) Download the file and open it in Excel. Select the Categories tab.

4) Find the category you want to list to.

  • The categories are listed numerically according to the Jet Browse Node ID numbers.
  • Excel's Find & Select feature can be helpful in searching for your category or parent category. The shortcut for the Find and Replace tool is Ctrl+F.

5) Ensure that you have found the correct category. Many categories have the similar names.

  • EXAMPLE: There is a Men's Shoes category under the Costumes & Dress Up category and a Men's Shoes category under the Clothing, Shoes & Accessories.
  • The easiest way to verify the category is to find the name associated with the Parent_id.

  • Scroll up or down to find the name of the parent category.

6) You also want to ensure you have selected a leaf category (with no subcategories).

  • If your category is used as the Parent_id for another category, select a subcategory instead.

7) Once you've verified your category. Copy the number from the id field.

8) Paste it into the jet:browse node id field in your Solid Commerce template.

Adding Category Attributes to Your Template

Jet notes that you must provide a size for all clothing listings. The specific name of the size attribute may vary depending on the type of clothing your are listing (e.g. girl's, women's, pants, tops, etc.).

So far as we are aware, Jet doesn't require the use of category specific attributes for any categories other than clothing. However, you may still want to review the attributes available for your category. Adding some attributes may be worth your time if you determine that they will improve the quality of your listing.

Also, if you want to create a variation listing, you will need to add at least one variation attribute to your Solid Commerce template.

To add attributes:

1) Select Jet's Taxonomy file.

2) Click on the Category-Attribute Mapping tab.

  • It is sorted numerically by the Attribute ID.
  • We recommend sorting by the category_id column instead so that all of the attributes for your category will be grouped together.
    • To change the sort, right click on the cell under the category_id column header. Hover over Sort in the pop-up menu. In the Sort submenu, select Sort Smallest to Largest.

3) You may want to change the attribute_id column to Number format. This will convert the long attribute IDs from scientific notation to numbers, which will make them easier to view.

  • To convert to Number format, highlight the entire attribute_id column and selecting Number from the Number Format drop-down in the Number section of Excel's HOME ribbon menu.

  • You may also want to trim the decimal points off the numbers. If the longer numbers are displaying as a series of pound symbols, you can make the attribute_id column wider.

4) Use Find & Select to search the category_id column for the Jet Browse Node ID of your category.

5) Copy and paste all of the attribute ID numbers for your category into Notepad or Word for reference.

  • The list of attributes may look long. Not to worry, most of the attributes on your list will have been retired. You will probably only find a few active attributes for your category.

6) Back in the Jet Taxonomy file, click on the Attributes tab. Look for your first Attribute ID in the id column.

  • If your Attribute ID doesn't exist in the id column, that attribute is no longer active. Try to find the next Attribute ID in the id column.

7) When you find one of your Attribute IDs in the id column, decide whether or not you want to use it on your listing. If you want to use it, copy the display_name value.

  • If your attribute doesn't have a display_name, copy the description instead.

8) In your Solid Commerce template, start a new column on the far right-hand side by typing jet attr: in the header. Paste the display_name immediately after jet attr: (don't add a space after the colon).

9) To populate your attribute, select Jet's Taxonomy file again. On the Attributes tab, view the number in the free text column.

10) If the free text value is 0, you must enter a valid value from the list provided by Jet.

  • To view the valid values, select the Attribute Values tab.
  • Find your Attribute ID in the attribute_id column. Copy one of the options from the value column.
  • Paste the valid value into your Solid Commerce template.

11) If the free text value is 1, the field is free form. If the free text value is 2, the field is a free form unit field.

  • On your Solid Commerce template, you can either use a value from the Attribute Values tab (if there are any values), or you can type in your own value.

12) Repeat Steps 5 - 10 until you have added all of the attributes you want to use to your Solid Commerce template.

Creating Variation Listings

To learn how to list variations, please see Creating Variation Listings on Jet.

Uploading Your Template Into Solid Commerce

1) Select the Product+Inventory tab of your file.

2) In the Solid Commerce Excel menu, click the Upload Data button.

  • For items that already exist in a Warehouse in your Solid Commerce account, check only the Update Product option in the pop-up.
  • For items you are adding to Solid Commerce for the first time, check both the Update Product and Update Inventory options.

3) After you upload the Product+Inventory tab, select the Jet - Create Listings tab.

4) Click the Upload Data button and select the Update Marketplace option.

Updating Listings on Jet

Price and quantity changes are automatically sent to Jet.

If you want to update any other information, you can simply provide new values for the specific field you want to update. You don't need to provide any additional Jet fields.

In order for us to process your upload, you will need to provide the other fields required for the type of upload you are performing.

TITLE EXAMPLE: To update your jet:title, you will check the Upload Marketplace box during your Excel upload. That means that you need the other fields required for a Marketplace Level update: results, product custom sku, warehouse id, list name.

BRAND EXAMPLE: To update your jet attr:brand, you will check the Upload Product box during your Excel upload. That means that you need the other fields required for a Product Level update: results, product custom sku, warehouse id.

When updating a field, it can be handy to reference your original values. To view your original data, use the Retrieve Data button in the Excel Add-In. For more info, see Retrieving With the Excel Tool.

After you upload your revised information into Solid Commerce, select your listings in your Solid Commerce Jet Market List and click the Update Listings button.

Downloadable Excel File to Use When Creating Your Template

This file below contains all of the required and recommended fields. It also includes three example listings.

  • Just wanted to let you know that the downloadable template doesn't have all of the column headers mentioned in the required fields list. For example, it's missing "jet:price exp", "po sources", and "list name". You should probably go through and update the column headers. Also, an excel file with all usable Jet headers (as opposed to just the popular or required ones) would be even better.
