This article describes the process for creating brand new listings on Amazon through Solid Commerce using our Excel Add-In Tool.

Downloading a Listing Template From Amazon Seller Central
To list through Solid Commerce, you will use Amazon's template as a starting point. Downloading a template from Seller Central is a one-time process. Once you customize the Amazon template to work with Solid Commerce, you can save it and use it the next time you want to list new products.
To download a template from Amazon:
1) Login to Seller Central.
2) Go to the Inventory menu -> Add Products via Upload.
3) In the "STEP 1: SELECT THE TYPES OF PRODUCTS YOU WANT TO SELL" section, use the "Product Classifier" interface or the search tool to find the leaf category that you want to list your products to. Click the Select button to add that category to your template.
- If you want to list to more categories, continue to select categories until you add all the ones you want. The categories don't have to be related to each other.
4) In the "STEP 2: SELECT THE TYPE OF TEMPLATE" section, select Advanced and click the Generate Template button.
5) Your template will download.
Populating Your Template With Products
Follow the requirements in Amazon's template to populate it with some products.
If you've never populated one of Amazon's listing templates before, keep in mind that you don't need to populate most of the columns. Here is some brief info to make filling it out easier:
- The "Data Definitions" and "Example" tabs are extremely helpful. They have the answers to most questions.
- The "Instructions" tab provides some basic guidelines for populating the template.
- The "Images" tab documents Amazon's image requirements, which are pretty specific.
- The "Template" tab is the sheet that you populate and upload.
Creating Your Solid Commerce Template
Once you've populated your Amazon template with some items, you will insert a few columns into your template so that we can add your items to Solid Commerce.
Amazon includes lots of complex macros in their templates. The macros will keep working if you add the Solid Commerce columns to Amazon's file. Copying Amazon's columns into the Solid Commerce file will also create a valid file, but Amazon's macros won't copy over.
Uploading files into Solid Commerce offers you some flexibility with Amazon's template:
- You can rearrange the columns. The order doesn't matter.
- You can delete or hide any non-required columns.
- Some of Amazon's fields are replaced by Solid Commerce fields. They are identified in the tables below. You can delete the corresponding Amazon columns.
To add the Solid Commerce columns to your Amazon file:
1) Download and open the template attached to this article: Solid-Commerce-Columns-for-Amazon-Listing-Templates.xlsx.
2) In Excel, select your Amazon file. Select the Review tab in the Excel ribbon menu. Click the Unprotect Sheet button in the "Protect" section.
3) Delete the top two rows from Amazon's template. Row 3 will become your column headers.
4) Back on the Solid Commerce file, select all of the columns that have column headers and copy those columns.
- Don't just select the cells in row 1 that have the column headers in them. To select the column headers, click on the letter A above the "results" column header. Hold down shift. Click on the letter R above the "amazon sale end date" column header on the right.
5) On the Amazon template file, select column A. Right click and select Insert Copied Cells. Your file should now have all of the Solid Commerce columns on the left and the Amazon columns on the right.
Wherever you see a value in the "Replaces Amazon Field" column of this table, you can delete that Amazon column from your template. Use the Solid Commerce field instead.

|product custom sku||
The SKU of your product.
The Warehouse ID of your product.
The title for your listing.
The amazon description field allows you to provide a product description that is unique to Amazon.
If you don't provide an amazon description, we will submit the description saved in our general description field, which you can find on the "Products & Inventory" tab of the attached template. The general description can also be used for other marketplaces.
|amazon sell price exp||
This field controls the price of your item on Amazon.
You have two options for populating it:
If you are using an Amazon repricing rule, this is the value we will use to calculate your floor, ceiling, and no other sellers prices (unless you provide these values on a listing-by-listing basis through the "by item param" fields).
|market auto rule||
The name of the Amazon Pricing Rule you want to use on your listing.
Amazon Pricing Rules specify how we should set your price. The rules include fixed price and automated repricing options.
|list name||The name of your Amazon Market List in Solid Commerce.|
|po sources||The name of the Warehouse(s) Solid Commerce should use as the inventory source for your listings.|
|amazon qty exp||
Enter lq in this field if you want to make your entire inventory available on Amazon. You can also enter formulas if you prefer. See Using the Listing Quantity Expression to Control the Quantities on Your Listings for more.
Enter Yes to turn the automation on. Automated items are automatically submitted to Amazon for listing.
If you enter No, your product will not list until you turn the automation on.
Use the value: Get from 'feed_product_type'
Amazon's feed_product_type column determines the category.
This field is independent from the Solid Commerce UPC, ISBN, and EAN fields. Even if you have provided Solid Commerce with a UPC, ISBN, or EAN, you still need to populate Amazon's external_product_id field.
If Amazon has granted you a UPC exemption, you can leave this field blank.
Use this field to specify the type of product identifier you entered in the external_product_id field.
|amazon condition (required for conditions other than New)
If you don't provide Solid Commerce with an Amazon Condition, we will submit your item in New condition.
If you sell items in conditions other than new, include this column in your file. If you click on the Turn inline help ON button in the Solid Commerce Excel Add-In Tool menu, a drop-down menu with valid values will appear in this column.
You can use this field if you list an item in used, collectible, or refurbished condition.
The comment allows you to provide details about the condition of the product. It is visible below each sellers' name when a buyer views all of the sellers available on a listing.
Most Commonly Used Optional Solid Commerce Fields
The table below documents the most commonly used optional fields. A few additional optional fields are available. You can view them by clicking on the Manage Excel Columns button in the Solid Commerce Excel Add-In Tool menu.
Wherever you see a value in the "Replaces Amazon Field" column of this table, you can delete the Amazon column from your template. Use the Solid Commerce field instead.

You can leave this field blank. We automatically send full updates for items that don't have an ASIN in Solid Commerce yet.
If your item is online in Solid Commerce, we automatically submit a partial update containing whatever Amazon data we have.
|amazon shipping template name||
Enter the name of one of the shipping templates you created in your Amazon Seller Central account.
If you leave this field blank:
|amazon leadtime to ship||fulfillment_latency||
Amazon includes handling time in two processes:
We manage the handling time for both processes with our amazon leadtime to ship field.
If you ever update the amazon leadtime to ship in Solid Commerce, we will automatically submit the new handling time the next time we send an inventory update. If you want it updated faster, select the item in your Amazon Market List and click the Update Listings button.
If you leave this field blank, Amazon will use their default value of one to two business days.
|amazon onsale price exp||
This is a sale price that is lower than the standard price.
You have two options for populating this field:
If you supply an amazon onsale price exp, you must also provide an amazon sale start date and an amazon sale end date.
Any changes to the standard price on Amazon removes the on sale price. You should use a fixed price rule on sale items, not a repricing rule.
|amazon sale start date||
The date the sale price will begin overriding the product's standard price on Amazon.
|amazon sale end date||
The last date the sale price will be displayed on Amazon. Only the standard price will be displayed after this date.
To create variation listings on Amazon, follow Amazon's variation format. The "Data Definitions" tab of their template provides information on how to populate the variation fields. The "Example" tab shows how the fields look when they are populated.
Uploading Your File
1) If you are adding new items to Solid Commerce, or updating product data on items that already exist in Solid Commerce, populate the "Product & Inventory" tab of attached template.
2) In the Solid Commerce Excel menu, click the Upload Data button.
- For items you are adding to Solid Commerce for the first time, check both the Upload Product and Upload Inventory options.
- For items that already exist in a Solid Commerce Warehouse, check only the Upload Product option in the pop-up.
3) Click Confirm.
4) Select the Template tab of the Amazon template that you added the Solid Commerce columns to.
5) Click the Upload Data button. Select the Upload Product and Upload Marketplace option and click Confirm.
Updating Your Live Amazon Listings
We automatically submit quantity and price updates to Amazon. You don't need to take any action to trigger quantity and price updates besides making sure that the automation is turned on in Solid Commerce.
